Curriculum

At Westcliff School of Skills, we follow the CAPS: Technical Occupational curriculum.

The South African Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) for Technical Occupational is designed to provide a structured and comprehensive framework for learners in the Technical Occupational stream, focusing on vocational and practical skills. This stream caters to learners who may not thrive in a traditional academic setting and are better suited to hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for specific trades and occupations. The current curriculum is still in draft format.

Subjects

The curriculum typically includes a combination of academic subjects such as Mathematics, English, Afrikaans, NST and PSW, along with practical workshops in areas like welding, woodworking, and food production. We work on a rotational basis where learners spend every second day in the workshop.
Year 1:
Afrikaans, English, Mathematics, PSW (includes Arts and Culture)
Year 2 – 4:
Afrikaans, English, Mathematics, Natural Science and Technology, PSW (includes Arts and Culture)
